Privacy Policy

Edvet (“Edvet”, “we”, “us”), operator of edvet.in, connects learners with verified teachers, starting with yoga in Hyderabad, India. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you hold under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). By using our website, WhatsApp channel, or dashboards, you agree to this policy.
1. Data we collect
- Students: name, WhatsApp number, area/locality, learning goals, schedule preferences, budget range, language preferences, and — only with your explicit consent — health flags relevant to safe teaching (e.g., pregnancy, back issues). If you enrol a minor, we require a parent or guardian to hold the account.
- Teachers: the above, plus verification data — government-ID (Aadhaar) verification results via our KYC provider, PAN verification (optional), certificates, experience details, a self-recorded teaching video, and a live selfie for face match. We never store your full Aadhaar number (see the Data Policy).
- Everyone: messages exchanged with Edvet on WhatsApp and dashboards, device and usage data, and advertising attribution identifiers (UTM parameters, Google gclid, Meta fbclid) when you arrive from an ad.
2. Why we use it
- To match students with suitable teachers (goals, location, schedule, language, budget, and — with consent — health-related safety rules).
- To verify teacher identity, qualifications, and teaching skill, and to display honest trust signals to students.
- To operate classes end-to-end: demo booking, reminders, schedules, curricula, progress, reviews, and invoices for teachers.
- To communicate over WhatsApp, SMS, and email — transactional messages always; marketing only with your opt-in.
- To measure and improve our service and advertising (see the Cookie Policy).
- To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and meet legal obligations (e.g., GST invoicing).
3. What we never do
- We never sell your personal data.
- We never display fabricated statistics or reviews about teachers or demand.
- We never collect student payments — students pay teachers directly; we only record confirmations.
- We never share your contact number with the other party before a demo class is booked.
4. Sharing
We share data only with processors needed to run the service — identity verification (KYC), messaging (WhatsApp Business Platform/Meta, SMS, email), payments for teacher commissions (Razorpay), maps and geocoding, cloud hosting and storage, and analytics — each bound by contract to use it solely for our instructions. Aggregated, de-identified conversion events are shared with advertising platforms to measure campaigns. We disclose data to authorities only where the law requires.
5. Your rights (DPDP Act)
- Access: request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: fix inaccurate or incomplete data from your dashboard or by writing to us.
- Erasure: request deletion; we honour it except where law requires retention (e.g., tax invoices).
- Withdraw consent: opt out of marketing anytime (reply STOP on WhatsApp) or withdraw health-data consent, which limits safety-based matching.
- Grievance: write to team@edvet.in — we acknowledge within 72 hours and resolve within 30 days.
- Nominate: nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.
6. Children
Classes for minors are always arranged through a verifiable parent or guardian account with explicit consent. We do not message minors directly — all communication goes to the guardian.
7. Retention & security
Retention periods and our security measures are detailed in the Data Policy. In short: we keep data only as long as its purpose (or the law) requires, encrypt sensitive fields, and restrict access on a need-to-know basis.
8. Changes & contact
We will notify you of material changes via WhatsApp or your dashboard. Data Fiduciary: Edvet, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. All privacy requests: team@edvet.in.
